The organizations listed include county, community, nonprofit, and state agencies that serve youth and families in Henrico and the surrounding region. While we strive to provide a broad range of resources, this directory is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of every available youth program or service.
Henrico
Henrico County Community Revitalization – The Department of Community Revitalization coordinates the County’s housing initiatives, revitalization efforts and community development programs. The department plays an integral role in the enhancement of existing residential, commercial, and industrial areas in the County.
Henrico County Police Division – The Guiding Principle of the Henrico County Police Division is to treat everyone with respect, compassion and dignity. We will continually ask ourselves, “Do my actions reflect how I want members of my family to be treated?” We serve a community of great diversity. Our Guiding Principle will help us achieve our vision to be cutting edge public-safety leaders dedicated to equality and civic trust. As a law enforcement agency, our duty is to protect the public, ensure justice is served fairly and equitably, and uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Henrico County Public Library – We are a public library system with nine state-of-the-art facilities located throughout Henrico County. Our mission is to promote reading, connect people with the information they need, and enrich community life. We provide a responsive and diverse collection of popular reading material and research support resources, educational programs for all ages and skill levels, technology for computing and digital content creation, and a variety of spaces and other amenities to facilitate learning, community, and collaboration.
Henrico County Public Schools – Family Resource Center – The Henrico County Public Schools Family Resource Center (FRC) works with families, schools, and the community to help ensure every student will be ready for life and a successful future. We believe that when families are supported, students can do their best in school and beyond.
Henrico County Recreation and Parks – Recreation and Parks, provide activities that enhances the way of life. Crafts, Sports, Activities, Space.
Henrico County Social Services – The Department of Social Services provides financial assistance and social services programs that effectively assist individuals and families to meet their basic human needs, increase their capacity to function independently, and to provide protection for abused and neglected children, and aged and disabled adults. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for Henrico county citizens by assisting them in meeting their essential human needs and encouraging their self sufficiency.

Help1RVA – A free online resource directory that connects individuals and families in the Greater Richmond region with local programs and services, including housing, food, healthcare, employment, childcare, transportation, and other basic needs.
Virginia Navigator – A centralized resource navigation platform that empowers residents, caregivers, and service providers to identify and connect with local community resources across Virginia. It streamlines referrals and helps ensure individuals can access the services they need, from basic necessities to specialized health and human services.

Behavioral Health Services of Virginia – Behavioral Health Services of Virginia is a prominent healthcare organization based in the state of Virginia, dedicated to providing comprehensive behavioral health services and support to individuals and communities in need. The organization is committed to improving the mental well-being and overall quality of life for its clients through a range of evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond – Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond, empowers young people, especially those from historically marginalized communities, to succeed in life. BGCMR provides intentional, individualized supports for our members and their families.
Building Constructive Communities Foundation – Building Constructive Communities Foundation (BCCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness for youth and their families through comprehensive educational, mentoring, coaching, training, and enrichment programs. Our mission is to empower young individuals and their families by providing them with the tools, resources, and support they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
Communities In Schools of Richmond – CIS works in schools to support the non-academic needs of children and families, so students can succeed in school and in life. If CIS cannot provide a specific service we will link to other programs that can help. HCPS sites are Fairfield MS, Elko MS, John Rolfe MS and Highland Springs HS.
Culture Encounters – Culture Encounters offer opportunities for people to encounter cultures from around the world using the arts, shared experiences and conversation as a tool.
Greater Richmond SCAN – SCAN’s mission is to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect throughout the Greater Richmond area by protecting children, promoting positive parenting, strengthening families and creating a community that values and cares for its children. Greater Richmond SCAN offers parenting support and education in a variety of workshops and groups.
Henrico Education Foundation – Through a dynamic public-private partnership with Henrico County Public Schools — the commonwealth’s sixth largest school division — HEF serves more than 48,000 students in 72 educational facilities. The Henrico Education Foundation funds creative instructional approaches with strong academic goals that directly address the opportunity gap and provides resources for teachers to support the most challenged schools. The foundation’s unique role is vital to meeting the educational needs of our community’s children while providing partnership opportunities for businesses, community leaders and citizens to directly impact public schools.
Henrico Police Athletic League – Henrico PAL is a state licensed youth crime prevention program whose mission is to improve relationship between youth and police using programming as a conduit to build positive relationships.
Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition – Promotes health and wellness in Henrico County with a primary focus on reducing youth substance misuse through education, advocacy and capacity building.
Homeward – Homeward is the planning and coordinating organization for homeless services in the Greater Richmond Region. Our mission is to prevent, reduce, and end homelessness by facilitating creative solutions through the collaboration, coordination, and cooperation of regional resources and services.
Latinos in Virginia Empowerment Center – Provides education, advocacy, and support to Spanish-speaking individuals affected by violence in Virginia in order to ensure that they can access services that empower them to become happy, healthy, and self-sufficient.
My Brother’s Keeper of Greater Richmond – My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), has been engaging, empowering, and encouraging men to get in the Game of Life and become better men, better brothers, better husbands, better fathers, and better community members.
Neighborhood Resource Center – NRC Fulton is a non-profit educational, cultural and nutrition center in Richmond, Virginia’s east end. We operate the oldest financial opportunity center in the Commonwealth of Virginia, providing employment, financial, and income supports coaching to residents of Greater Fulton, Montrose, Varina, Sandston, and Seven Pines.
ReEstablish Richmond – ReEstablish Richmond connects our newest neighbors to life-building tools and resources, helping their integration to the community to be a positive and empowering experience. We work in collaboration with resettlement agencies, government services, faith communities, and volunteers. We are committed to creating greater opportunities for refugees and new immigrants in Richmond by enabling access to services that benefit their future.
Safe Harbor Shelter – Safe Harbor’s mission is to provide the support that survivors of sexual and domestic violence and human trafficking need to overcome their crisis and to transform their lives. We offer emergency shelter; housing, therapeutic counseling for adults and teens (age 13 and up) who experience domestic/dating violence and sexual violence or human trafficking, and children (age 5 and up) who witness violence in the home; case management, court advocacy, and a food pantry. and long-term transitional support. All services are available in English and Spanish.
Start 1 Spark – Start 1 Spark provides students in need with the means to participate in school extracurricular activities. By participating in sports, art, music, and clubs, students build friendships and a stronger, more inclusive school community.
The SPAN Center – The Span Center proudly serves as the Capital Area Agency on Aging for Central Virginia. We help older adults and individuals with disabilities maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life wherever possible, while also providing essential support to caregivers. Many individuals face unique challenges, especially those who may be isolated or at risk, physically or economically. That’s why we work to ensure that everyone has access to the assistance they need.
Virginia Department of Social Services – Oversea services and funding to all contracting agencies that provide services to newcomers.
Virginia Family Services – Virginia Family Services is an accredited Substance Use and Behavioral Health Treatment Center dedicated to treating adults and children with substance use, mental health and/ or co-occurring disorders.
